On August 25th, #ChanelNicoleScott (@chanelnicolescott) and #JoshPowell (@josh21powell) had an extravagant “All Blue Affair”, mansion party to celebrate the one-year anniversary of their podcast, #RelationshipsMatter. The inside of the house was decorated with Relationship Matters merchandise, games, an affirmation booth, great food and drinks, and even an open discussion among guests about relationships. When you first walked into the house, you were met with a great DJ and a beautiful backyard where the games and affirmation booth were.
The games included cornhole and a big version of Connect 4 with big blue and white playing chips. In the affirmation booth, you were able to record yourself answering questions that were in the booth about past traumas and how they can affect a relationship. The food also included: macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, red velvet cake cups, and other small appetizers.
At this event, there was also a magazine cover reveal for the publication, ‘SHEEN”, in which Scott was the cover of their September Issue. After that, there was then an open discussion that talked about many different aspects of relationships including important traits you want in a partner, sexual needs/wants, and even how past trauma can affect a relationship.
I had the pleasure of talking to Scott and I asked her for advice to give to black women of all ages when it comes to dating. She said, “The starting point before you go into any type of relationship is to tap into your god given assignment, your purpose, what god wants you to do”.
