The Courageous Awards Shine at Atlanta City Hall: A Powerful Night Honoring Women and Domestic Violence Survivors

In a moving tribute to strength, survival, and sisterhood, The Courageous Awards debuted at Atlanta City Hall, bringing together changemakers, celebrities, and community leaders to honor domestic violence survivors during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Hosted by media personality and entrepreneur Karlie Redd, with special guest Yandy Smith-Harris, the evening was a radiant celebration of resilience. From the red carpet to the heartfelt testimonials, every moment underscored the power of women supporting women.

Councilmember Andrea Boone, in partnership with TLJ Agency, helped bring this vision to life, creating a space where survivors could be seen, heard, and uplifted. “This event was more than an awards show...it was a movement,” said Boone. “We are committed to ending domestic violence and empowering those affected to reclaim their lives.”

The awards honored survivors from across the country who have turned their pain into purpose, becoming advocates, mentors, and leaders in their communities. Their stories, shared with raw honesty and grace, moved attendees to tears and inspired a renewed commitment to advocacy and healing.

Karlie Redd, who has long used her platform to champion women’s issues, shared,

“These women are the definition of courage. Tonight, we celebrate their strength and remind others that help is available, and healing is possible.”

Yandy Smith-Harris, a powerhouse in entertainment and activism, echoed the sentiment: “

We must continue to show up for each other. Hosting this event at City Hall sends a clear message, this issue matters, and these women matter.”

The evening also featured appearances from local officials, nonprofit leaders, and influencers, all united in the mission to raise awareness and drive change. Tiara LaRae Johnson, founder of TLJ Agency, emphasized the importance of collaboration:

“We believe in scaling impact through unity. Tonight was proof that when women come together, powerful things happen.”

For Brown Girls Link Up, this event was a reminder of why we do what we do....to amplify voices, build community, and celebrate the brilliance and bravery of Black women. The Courageous Awards was not just a ceremony; it was a call to action.

As we continue to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month, let this night serve as a beacon of hope and a reminder that courage lives in every survivor’s story.
