You Can't Be Pro-Black But Make Excuses For Black Men Harming Black Women

A few weeks ago, a new campaign maintaining #ToryLanez innocence began when a former bodyguard of Kelsey Harris signed an affidavit saying that Kelsey was the person who shot #MeganTheeStallion. Ever since then, it seems as though “new” evidence, that was already presented at Lanez’s trial or already on the internet, is now being used to cast doubt on his conviction. In return, Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete, was beginning to be harassed again by those who were taking the side of Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson.

The main statement that is continuously said when it comes to Peterson, is that Megan was just trying to tear a black man down and that the system was out to get him. The same thing was said when #HalleBailey filed a restraining order against ex, #DDG, and even when #Diddy was on trial right now. It makes one question, why some in the Black community want to coddle men who are proven or accused of being violent by Black women.

How come when a Black man is accused of doing something heinous they are given excuses and coddled, but when a black woman does something they are automatically ostracized by the public? How come Black Women are not given the same initial grace when incidents that aren’t even as heinous as violent crimes? Lastly, how come when a Black Man does something wrong, the age-old- statement, “Well white men do it too or white men are violent too” is said?

Having this type of thinking is very dangerous for Black Women because it makes them never want to speak up when a Black man with power does something violent to them. One cannot be so “Pro-Black” but never want to hold these men accountable.
