SNOOP DOGG’S PERFORMANCE AT THE BET AWARDS MAKES PEOPLE QUESTION WAS CHRISETTE MICHELE HARSHLY PUNISHED

On this year’s #BETAwards, #SnoopDogg (@snoopdogg) was honored with an Ultimate Icon Award and performed his biggest hits. With his performance, many people questioned how come the BET awards allowed him to perform and be honored, but it felt as though #ChrisetteMichele (@chrisettemichele) was blacklisted. All of this is stemming from Snoop Dogg performing at President Donald Trump’s inauguration earlier this year.
Michele, previously performed at Trump’s inauguration during his first term of President back in 2017. When Michele performed at the inauguration, many people in the black community began to criticize her heavily on her decision, including prominent director Spike Lee who took her song from his show, “She’s Gotta Have It”. Ever since then, she has not really been seen at prominent black award shows, or tv shows.
When Snoop Dogg performed at the inauguration this year, many people were critical because a few years back he was his biggest critic. He went on the breakfast club months later and said the performance came from other friendships. He goes on to say, “Even if I would have done it” for Trump “and hung out with him and took a picture with him, can’t none of you motherfuckers tell me what I can and can’t do.”
Many users on twitter after seeing his performance stated , “Chrisette Michele’s career is over and the men get to thrive for the same sh*t”” and another user stated , “Snoop doesn’t need a tribute or award, right now. How y’all talking all this black this and that and being for the people when this man literally took money from the MAIN oppressor, who’s trying to make it as if we don’t exist, just a few months ago? What gives, BET?”
