Woman fatally shot while walking in Long Beach


LONG BEACH, Calif. — A 20-year-old woman was tragically shot and killed on Saturday night while walking in a north Long Beach neighborhood, according to a preliminary police report.


The incident occurred just after 10 p.m., prompting a swift response from the Long Beach Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the area of Paramount Boulevard and 57th Street following reports of gunshots and a suspect seen fleeing the scene.


Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as Long Beach resident #BrooklynMack. Mack had been shot multiple times. Despite immediate attempts by the officers to administer medical aid, and subsequent assistance from the Long Beach Fire Department, Mack succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe a suspect fled the area prior to their arrival. The motive behind this horrific act remains unclear.
