“We will never, never forget her”: Family speaks after deadly shooting on Emerald Drive

SAVANNAH, Ga. - A mother of four was tragically killed in a shooting early Sunday morning, an incident that #Savannah’s mayor stated she was not involved in.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Emerald Drive and May Street. On Tuesday, the coroner identified the woman as Jakia Lanier, a 36-year-old mother.

Lanier leaves behind four children and a large family, all of whom are now grieving her untimely loss. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many in disbelief and sorrow.

Savannah’s mayor expressed his condolences to the family and assured that the city is doing everything in its power to bring the perpetrators to justice. He emphasized that Lanier was an innocent victim, caught in a situation she had nothing to do with.
