Suspect charged in fatal shooting of sister, assault on police in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas — A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman and subsequent assault on police officers in Houston on Sunday afternoon.

#ByronKeithHall, 29, is facing charges of murder, aggravated assault against a public servant, and aggravated assault of a family member, according to the 263rd State District Court. The charges stem from an incident that occurred around 2:35 p.m. on May 26 at a residence on Babbling Creek Drive.

Hall is accused of fatally shooting his sister, 25-year-old #TaylorBen. Detectives E. Camacho and A. Finlay from the Houston Police Department (HPD) Homicide Division reported that patrol officers responded to an assault call at the address.

Upon arrival, a male suspect, later identified as Hall, began firing an assault-style rifle at the officers from the driveway of the residence. The officers took cover behind their patrol vehicles as Hall continued to fire.

Minutes later, Hall walked towards the officers with his hands in the air and was arrested without further incident following verbal commands. The incident marks a tragic loss for the family and a shocking assault on the city's law enforcement officers.

The case is currently under investigation by the HPD Homicide Division. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
