Philadelphia, PA — The Olney High School community is mourning the loss of one of its own. Ondria Glaze, a dedicated teacher and special education compliance monitor, was tragically killed in a murder-suicide incident in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia.

On Monday, May 8, 2024, authorities responded to a residence in the 1300 block of S. 30th Street. There, they discovered Ondria Glaze, 36 years old, with fatal gunshot wounds. The perpetrator, identified as #RichardHarper, 42 years old, was also found dead at the scene, having taken his own life. A firearm was recovered next to Harper’s body.

Known for her unwavering dedication and compassion, Ondria embodied the school’s motto: “Olney Love.” Her office door became a memorial, adorned with heartfelt messages from those whose lives she touched.

Principal Michael Roth expressed deep sorrow over the loss. “Ondria Glaze was more than a teacher,” he said. “She was a beacon of kindness and support for everyone who walked through our doors.” The Olney community rallied together, sharing memories and stories of Ondria’s positive influence.

A vigil in #OndriaGlaze’s honor will take place on Monday, May 13, where students, staff, and community members will gather to remember her. Additionally, a GoFundMe campaign aims to establish a scholarship fund for graduating seniors who exemplify the same light and love that Ondria brought to #OlneyHighSchool.
