Indianapolis Kindergarten Teacher Brutally Murdered, Husband Confesses

INDIANAPOLIS — The city of Indianapolis is reeling from the shocking murder of a beloved kindergarten teacher, #AmberMorgan, known as #AmberCooley after her marriage. The 26-year-old was found brutally murdered in her home off West 30th Street and North White River Parkway East Drive on Saturday morning, shortly after 7:15 a.m.

Amber’s parents spoke to News 8 on Monday, sharing their heartbreak and memories of their daughter. Corey Morgan, Amber’s father, described his daughter as a bright star who loved being a mother. He recalled the last night they saw her, saying, “She went to Costco with her mother. She took everything up two flights of stairs, just having a 5-week-old baby.”

Corey emphasized that Amber was a good mother and requested that News 8 use his daughter’s maiden name: Morgan.

In a shocking turn of events, Amber’s husband, Robert Cooley, confessed to his wife’s murder. According to court documents, he told officers, “I did something bad. I need to go to jail” and later admitted, “I took my wife’s life.”

The police report paints a horrifying picture of the crime scene. Amber’s face was beaten so severely she was unrecognizable. She had been shot in the head, and her throat was slit. Officers noted blood on Cooley’s hands and clothing.

The tragic loss of Amber Morgan has left the #Indianapolis community and her family in deep grief. As they mourn, they also remember Amber for her dedication to her students and her unwavering love for her family.

The story is still developing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Our thoughts are with Amber’s family during this difficult time.
