Devin Brown Becomes The First Black Woman To Kayak Throughout The Entire Mississippi River

Devin Brown will become the first Black woman in America to kayak throughout the Mississippi River. She is currently a community program manager for the Mississippi Park Connection, an organization that gives people experiences with the Mississippi River.

According to Brown, she wants to teach people all the lessons that the river has to offer. She expresses that the river has helped her in her own way reconnect with herself.

Brown had previously entered the MR48 race that went down 50 miles of the  Mississippi River. She took first place in the solo women’s division, and was the only woman of color in her heat. For her journey down the river, it will span across 2,350 miles and end at the Gulf of Mexico in New Orleans. People can donate to her GoFundMe for her trip.
